More than $500 million worth of cattle stations is on the market in
Australia's Top End as owners seek to take advantage of the weak
Australian dollar, strong demand for beef in Asia and high land
prices.
According to today's Australian Financial Review, a London-based hedge
fund is leading the charge by bankrolling Sydney-based Primary
Holdings International for the $75m purchase of Peter Camm's LaBelle
Downs and Welltree Station in the Northern Territory.
There is also hype that Tipperary Station could fetch as much as
$200m, but such big numbers have pundits questioning whether the
market is over-heated.
Heytesbury Beef chief executive Paul Holmes a Court told the paper
that such asking prices are "inflated" and "irrational".
"The values on these properties are totally out of sync with what they
can earn," he said.

MELBOURNE, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Australian Agricultural Co (AAC.AX:
Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), the world's biggest cattle
company, on Tuesday posted a net loss of A$2.2 million ($1.9 million)
in the first half, hit by a strong Australian dollar and increased
competition in key markets.
AACo had posted a net profit after tax of A$5.9 million in the same
period the previous year.
AACo, which has land holdings as big as Ireland with 1.2 percent of
the entire land area of Australia, has been hit in recent years by a
long-running drought. The company runs more than 500,000 cattle on
over 20 properties.

Australian state forced to buy water as drought depletes reserves for
2009
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Australia's driest state has been forced to
purchase water for the first time to ensure adequate supplies in the
midst of a drought, a government official said Friday.
Karlene Maywald, state water security minister, said South Australia
has purchased 61 billion gallons (231 gigaliters) of water so that
Adelaide, the state capital, will have enough water for 2009 even if
the drought continues.

Still, and although I do not question you most documented information,
there is the fact that all Earth Fresh Water resources are depleted &
hence the Aquifers all through the World are going down up to 50 m in
some case ( Morocco, Turkey) and in the major US Central plains
Aquifers the water level is 15m down in the last 10 years.
The True Geology teaches us that the origin of water is in the Mantle
through the cracking of rocks under huge pressure & temperature
gradients ... THIS is the source of all the water in the Oceans BUT
that source is petering up due to consequences of Global Warming which
is the accelerated drift of the Earth on Ecliptics towards lesser &
lesser Cosmic Density Pressure ( Notion proper to the True Geology)
In clear less Native water pressure ending in Aquifers, less
compensation for the huge drain from irrigation, then in turn dying of
the vegetal cover no irrigated, less & less rain as a result,
invasion of sea water ( up to 200 miles inland now) making Aquifers
brackish, increased salinity of irrigated crops until impossibility of
cultivating salt caked land ....
HENCE FAMINES AHEAD EVEN TO ALLEGED SCIENTIFIC WESTERN BASED
ECONOMIES
The writing is on the wall, but only very few people are able to read
it, it seems.
