No state could be more deserving!!
Thanks To Whacko AGW Alarmism, Schwarzenegger Declares Fiscal Emergency
California, the new basket case thanks to idiotic AGW policies.
John Wildermuth,Wyatt Buchanan, Chronicle Sacramento Bureau
December 2 2008
With time and money running out for California, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
declared a fiscal emergency Monday and called legislators into a new special
session that won't end until they agree on a way to trim the state's $11.2
billion budget deficit.
"Without immediate action, our state is headed for a fiscal disaster" in
which California could run out of money to pay its bills by late February,
the governor said in a news conference in Los Angeles.
He compared the growing deficit, which could reach $28 billion by 2010, to
an avalanche gaining momentum, and he slammed the Legislature, Democrats and
Republicans, for not coming up with solutions during a special session that
ended Nov. 25.
"Unfortunately for California, the legislators did not seem to appreciate
the severity of our crisis," Schwarzenegger said. "In an emergency like
this, we have to take quick action to avoid even worse problems, even if
they include decisions we don't like."

Why the fiscal emergency? The printing press there broken down or
something?

Bonzo - With your usual flair, you're spouting bogus logic here.
California is currently facing a fiscal crisis because of the
financial crisis that's now unfolding across most of the world.
Schwarznegger may be right or wrong to be promoting California
programs to tackle AGW, but his programs aren't having a lot of
immediate impact on the California economy.
What's mostly hurting California are the global financial crisis
centered around subprime mortgages, hedge funds, credit default swaps
etc. and the US recession that's been underway since late 2007,
according to leading American business economists.
If you want to persuade people to join the AGW Denier camp, Bozo, why
don't you try printing the truth for a change?
I'm a Green AGWer and have no sympathy for you or your goals, but just
speaking objectively, I'd have to say your credibility would be better
if you didn't trot out logical absurdities like the headline you put
on the lead post in this string.
Are you going to blame "AGW Hysteria" for the subprime mortgage
crisis, next? Or for the latest terrorist attack in Mumbai?

Bonzo probably gets paid $1 for every piece of op-ed junk he posts on
these NGs. Sometimes he doesn't even bother reading what he's posted,
it's just a 9-5 job Monday to Friday.

California's Dirty Little Secrets
California Proves It's No Fun Being Loonie Green
ROTFLMAO Who would want to live in California - any takers?
July 13, 2008
Glenn Milne meant this to sound hopeful !!!!!!
The great thing about visiting California is that it gives you a sense of
where Australia is probably headed. In the context of the climate change
debate, this assertion stands, only more so. Remember, California Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger is something of an environmental pin-up boy for Rudd.
Max Schulz explains why it's actually a threat:
A dirty secret about California's energy economy is that it imports lots of
energy from neighboring states to make up for the shortfall caused by having
too few power plants. Up to 20 percent of the state's power comes from
coal-burning plants in Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Montana, and
another significant portion comes from large-scale hydropower in Oregon,
Washington State, and the Hoover Dam near Las Vegas.
Another secret: California's proud claim to have kept per-capita energy
consumption flat while growing its economy is less impressive than it seems.
The state has some of the highest energy prices in the country-nearly twice
the national average, a 2002 Milken Institute study found-largely because of
regulations and government mandates to use expensive renewable sources of
power.
As a result, heavy manufacturing and other energy-intensive industries have
been fleeing the Golden State in droves for lower-cost locales. Twenty years
ago or so, you could count eight automobile factories in California; today,
there's just one, and it's the same story with other industries, from
chemicals to aerospace.
Yet Californians still enjoy the fruits of those manufacturing
industries-driving cars built in the Midwest and the South, importing
chemicals and resins and paints and plastics produced elsewhere, and flying
on jumbo jets manufactured in places like Everett, Washington.
California can pretend to have controlled energy consumption, but it has
just displaced it.

California aggravates its fiscal problems by a rather steep
graduated income tax. The result is, when times are good, taxes are
disproportionately high. The state legislature ups spending, thinking
that growth will always be above average. Sooner or later there is
always a bust, and when that happens, California is up shit creek
without a paddle.
With a less graduated tax, there would be less imbalance in revenues

You'd think with all the real problems that California and everyone
faces, the surreal and untrue scenario of devastating global warming
would be discarded.
But there is too much money to promote this false belief for which
people have no empirical evidence, from those who seek to profit and
control.
It is ridiculous that 4 parts in 10,000 of CO2 or changes of 4 parts
in 10,000 affect the climate. The earth is 4500 miles in radius or
about 9000 miles in diameter. 90% of the atmosphere is within 10 miles
of the surface. This atmosphere does not dictate the mean temperature
of the earth.
If the earth were the size of a basketball, the atmosphere would be
the thickness of a very thin coat of paint.
But it is amazing what people will believe and perpetrate a religous
HOLY WAR over.

Absolutely!!
These atheist lefties badly need a religion-substitute "crusade" to make
some sense of their empty and meaningless existences.
Any crusade will do, no matter how whacko.
Hence the current, improvised AGW hysteria.
Even rabid atheists want to feel worthwhile and have some reason for their
existence.
