Alarmists are blind to reality!!
December 3 2008
Further proof that at least some in Labor are gagging at Kevin Rudd's
emission trading scheme, realising that slashing emissions actually means
slashing jobs:
THE Prime Minister, KRudd, has told his backbenchers to hold their nerve
over Labor's emissions trading scheme amid internal concerns about its
impact on jobs and intense lobbying by interest groups.
Less than a fortnight before the white paper detailing the scheme is
released on December 15, a handful of backbenchers used yesterday's caucus
meeting, the last for the year, to express concern about the impact of the
scheme on jobs in difficult economic times.
NSW Senator Steve Hutchins warned of the impact on jobs should Australia
proceeded unilaterally with an emissions trading scheme during an economic
downturn.
Jennie George, the former ACTU boss, cited concerns from BlueScope Steel
which is in Wollongong, in her electorate of Throsby, and asked they be
taken into consideration.
Senator Glenn Sterle, from Western Australia, spoke up for the liquefied
natural gas industry, which is complaining it will lose billions in
investments because it does not qualify for the compensation that will be
given to the heavy-polluting industries.
And this is even before any of those backbenchers dare to publicly raise
this central truth about the world's temperature.
Is KRudd killing jobs with a plan that won't actually stop what might
actually have stopped already?
