Subject: PLATINUM IN REVERSE BUBBLE TOO BUT I AM A BUYER HERE
From: "robert g smith" <r...@e...net> Search message by this author

Platinum is in a reverse bubble too although because platinum's production
will drop at this price because production costs are very high as opposed to
oil's there does seem to be more of a floor on the price here. The South
African shortage of electricity has damaged South African platinum
production. Also when ever we get a severe recession platinum trades close
to gold but is 10 ( ten ) times more rare. When the economy turns platinum
will spike sharply, probably at least 50 + % ! I am a buyer pf physical
platinum here. at $ 815.00 an ounce. If it drops lower I'll just buy more.

A hunk of metal can't be screwed up by incompetent over compensated
management. Or inept politicians.

OK. Where the hell are you finding platinum for $815/oz? I've been looking
for the stuff for 3 weeks, now. There is NO platinum around here.
I started looking for maple leafs......now I'll buy in bars if I can find any.

Nondescript bags of silver coins are called "clad bags." They used to be traded
in the commodity exchange but the specs were too murky for that market to catch
on. One of our early projects was for Mocatta Metals, the company that invented
options on commodity futures. The project involved the back office with clad
bags being one of the commodity futures for which Mocatta wrote options.

Platinum and Palladium are impossible to take delivery of inside of
35%
of posted price due to "bar premiums and commissions".

I am trying to make a deal with a miner to take delivery direct at
market
prices . . . they are not at all receptive to any such deal. The
chain
of command calls that the mine (of which i am a big holder) sells via
Johnson-Matthey, who in turns sells to a chartered bank.

Most mines are under long term contract to a refiner & banker or
broker
as part of their ongoing financing packages.

I am now short gold. Something is out of whack on the gold/plat
ratio.

I don't see anything even resembling a pattern for the February GC. At least
with crude at least there's somewhat of a correlation with the Dow. Judy, my
futures broker, made some gold trades for me with fairly good results and I'll
leave it at that. For now, she's not touching gold and is focused on the softs
and grains correcting what she feels is an oversold condition.

Another broker at Zaner feels there's a possible trend reversal to up for GC but
he's recommending that we steer clear of it for the time being.

Here is a URL for platinum coins but I think you can do better with Isle of
Mann Bullion coins. You know the UK Island ? Also platinum Chinese Panda
coins but I have not checked them the Panda coins out. I'll put up a URL
for these too.
