Is it possible that stocks have been overpriced for several years?
Perhaps a DOW of 7,500 more closely represents the actual value
of many equities. Maybe a depression of 3 to 5 years would restore
sanity to the market.

The actual value of anything is whatever someone will pay for it at a
given moment.......

Why does a market need sanity.....a market would NOT exist unless there
were differences of opinions(i.e. buyers AND sellers)......

With current accounting it is impossible to say what actual valuations are,
but with what Im hearing about "leveraging" it could be much lower than
7500. Everyone is investing in everyone else and it just built a house of
cards.

You are correct in the first part (over valued, not over priced).
However, stock prices have come back to perhaps even undervalued. But
whether the market will go up from here is unknown.

No the actual **price** of anything is whatever someone will pay for
it at a given moment. There is intrinsic value in the stocks of a
company. The S&P has been over valued for a number of years.

But they don't have to be insane (i.e. in a bubble). A return to
sanity is a good thing.

Someday you should try trading for a living using that "system".....you
may find yourself becoming an expert avoiding margin calls......

Nope.

Or perhaps not.

Taint gunna happen, you watch.
For several years, stocks had been priced accordingly.
DOW at 7500 represents prices in accordance with the pending
swearing in of POTUS XXXXIV on January 20, 2008.
Only if a depression allows creative destruction of corporations,
e.g.,
GM (next time, Boeing) already sucked dry would it be useful. Else
fellow travelleling liberals on the Hill will make matters worse.
