Holiday season off to a modest start

Holiday season off to a modest start as shoppers focus on bargains,
small-ticket items

NEW YORK (AP) -- Deep discounts on everything from sweaters to TVs
drove shoppers out of hibernation for the Thanksgiving weekend, but
the buying was tempered and sales for the traditional start of the
holiday season appear at best in line with stores' low expectations.

err JJ.... duhhh. the real inflation rate is in the 13 to 15%
range, so a 3% 'increase' in sales from last year is close to a 10%
net loss of revenue. additionally much of the black monday sales
were driven by exceptional disccounts as retailers are interested in
not getting stuck with that stuff.

the rest of the month will not be even at that level. time to
batten down the hatches... not pump this bogus disaster of an economy,
stock market and real estate as long as jobs are still evaporating,
many overseas, and the red ink flows.

this mess will reccover when govt spends less than it takes in....that
means a cut of 70% or so for them and jobs are repatriated and the
international playing field leveled ....

***

slave labor manufacture is not compatible with a developed economy
with expensive government... trying to make it compatible puts those
living in the expensive country out of work.

I have no idea what the solutions might be....but Im pretty sure that
is the problem.
among others, vast US govt bloat and waste in wars etc.

Black Friday sales were not necessarily expected to be lower. Total
holiday sales ARE still expected to be down. Black Friday is not an
accurate barometer of seasonal sales. Some bargain hunters feel they
need to buy the bargains on Black Friday, but that does not translate to
momentum. In fact, Black Friday spending may limit the remaining
dollars available for shopping for the balance of the season. MB

And now for my Jim Cramer impersonation.

"Black Friday sales are FINE!"
(sound effect: whoop! whoop! whoop!)

"The DOW is UP +850 from 5 days ago on this news!"
(studio effect: rotating red beacon)

"BUY! BUY! BUY!"
(sound effect: ding! ding! ding!")

The only thing this clown is missing is the shoes.
